چکیده
It is important for the improvement of mechanical properties quenching and partitioning (QP) steels to control martensite transformation behavior stability untransformed austenite. In this study, we evaluated restart temperature (Mr) via a dilatometer during reheat austempering pattern. This heat pattern corresponding typical treatment QP steel involves TQ, between start (Ms) finish temperature, above Ms. Fe-8Ni-0.2C alloy, Mr equals regardless progress bainite at 673 K (400 °C). Fe-8Ni-1Si-0.2C decreases parabolically from TQ with transformation, corresponds assumed carbon concentration by transformation. These results indicate that self-stabilization entire austenite first quench Ms was preserved, Moreover, stabilization in added self-stabilization.

Critical Assessment : Martensite – Start Temperature for the γ → ε Transformation
It is increasingly important in the context of high–manganese steels of the kind that lead to twinning–induced plasticity to be able to estimate the temperature at which ε–martensite forms when austenite is cooled. We find that the thermodynamic method used in similar calculations for α martensite cannot in many cases be implemented because of apparently imprecise thermodynamic data, a conclusi...
متن کاملUncertainties in dilatometric determination of martensite start temperature
Methods for the dilatometric determination of the martensite start temperature of steels are discussed, with emphasis on noise in the experimental data. The methods are tested on a new set of experiments using a specially prepared steel. Relying on the first detection of expansion due to transformation is fraught with difficulties. Instead, an offset method is proposed which should enable indep...
متن کاملtransformation in metastable Fe - Mn alloys
Metastable Fe-Mn alloys exhibit a non-thermoelastic martensitic transformation which is accompanied by a significant thermal effect (ca. 20 J/g). Among Fe-Mn alloys, the highest value of latent heat was registered in alloys with 17-18 wt. % Mn. In this work we investigate effects of carbon (up to 0.4 wt. %) and cold rolling (5-25% of thickness reduction) on the latent heat and the temperature h...
متن کاملInfluence of Alfa’ Martensite on Shape Memory in Fe-Mn-Based Alloys
An Fe-16MndSi alloy exhibits a good one-way and a little two-way shape memories by the stress induced y + E martensitic transformation and its reversion on heating and cyclic thermal y 2 E transformations, respectively. An intrusion of small amount of a' martensite at the initial shape change is not found to deteriorate the one-way memory and rather enhance the two-way memory. The two Fe-Mn-C a...
متن کاملMartensitic Transformation in Microcrystalline Melt-Quenched Fe-Ni Alloys
The features of martensite transformation in Fe (31 32)% Ni melt-quenched alloys are considered. The meltquenching was realized by spinning technique with variable parameters. The influence of the melt-quenching on structural and kinetics transformation parameters is revealed. In particular Ms point is shown to decrease but volume percentage of athermal martensite is found to be invariable with...
